Rap superstar 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) is taking his ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, to court, accusing her of breaking a 2007 contract that granted his company, G-Unit Books, exclusive rights to her life story.
According to legal documents obtained by AllHipHop, Tompkins allegedly violated the agreement—reportedly worth $80,000 plus royalties—by publicly discussing their past relationship in interviews and social media posts. The lawsuit claims she recently made explosive allegations, including accusations of domestic abuse during her pregnancy and their time together.
The legal filing argues that Tompkins is "deliberately exploiting" the rights she sold to G-Unit Books, especially after gaining attention for commenting on the Diddy trial.
"She knew exactly what she was doing," said Jackson’s attorney, Reena Jain, pointing out that Tompkins even referenced the contract while sharing her story online, suggesting it would "have to be worked out legally."
50 Cent originally secured the rights to prevent Tompkins from profiting off their history—a move that now seems prescient. He’s demanding $1 million in damages, removal of all related content, a legal injunction, and attorney fees.
The two dated in the 1990s and share a son, Marquise Jackson (born 1996). Their tumultuous relationship included a years-long custody battle, ending just as 50 Cent’s career skyrocketed with Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
As of now, Tompkins has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
