The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has dismissed head coach Sami Trabelsi in the wake of the national team's premature exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The decision comes less than 24 hours after the Carthage Eagles were eliminated in the round of 16 by Mali. Despite taking an early lead and playing against ten men for much of the match, Tunisia failed to secure victory in regulation time. After a 1-1 draw through extra time, Mali prevailed in a penalty shootout.
The FTF stated the decision followed a review with the technical staff. Trabelsi’s departure reflects mounting frustration over a tournament performance that fell short of expectations, particularly after a promising start in the group stage.
Trabelsi’s tenure ends with the team's failure to progress beyond the first knockout round, a result that has drawn significant criticism from fans and pundits alike.
