Nollywood star Bimbo Ademoye has filed a public complaint over alleged intellectual property theft, accusing a man named Emmanuel Davis of pirating a song from her film Where Love Lives and causing its demonetization.
According to the actress, the original song was composed solely for the movie by an artist known as Uzor and was never commercially released, a measure intended to prevent piracy. She alleges Davis uploaded the track online without authorization, fraudulently registered it under his own name, and filed a copyright claim that stripped the film of its advertising revenue.
"This has cost us financially, but it's a matter of principle," Ademoye stated, vowing to pursue accountability. "I will never lay claim to what is not mine."
In a related allegation, she identified another individual, Anwuli, for allegedly sabotaging a separate, high-performing project. Ademoye has declined private settlements, opting instead for legal recourse to protect creative works and combat piracy in Nigeria's film industry.
The incident has spurred widespread discussion on digital content protection and monetization abuse.
