Germany's national football team has moved into first place on the all-time list of goals scored at FIFA World Cup tournaments, surpassing long-time record holders Brazil.
The historic milestone was achieved following Germany's dominant 7–1 victory over Curaçao in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup group stage. The result took Germany's total tally in World Cup finals to 239 goals.
Brazil, who had previously held the record with 238 goals, could only manage a 1–1 draw with Morocco in their own tournament opener, failing to add to their lead.
What's Next for Both Teams
In the second round of group-stage matches, Brazil will face Haiti on June 20, while Germany will take on Côte d'Ivoire on the same day.
Both teams will be looking to build momentum as the tournament progresses, with Germany aiming to extend their new record and Brazil eager to respond after a shaky start.
