Crystal Palace have made a major statement of intent, announcing the club-record signing of winger Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £35 million. The 24-year-old Wales international completed his medical on Thursday before putting pen to paper on Friday, eclipsing the £27 million paid for Christian Benteke in 2016.
Johnson’s arrival comes after days of deliberation, during which Bournemouth also showed strong interest as they seek a replacement for Antoine Semenyo. Ultimately, conversations with Palace head coach Oliver Glasner proved decisive, convincing Johnson to join the Eagles' project as they balance Premier League and European commitments this season.

Despite a subdued season at Tottenham—with only six league starts and four goals in 22 appearances—Johnson’s pedigree remains unquestioned. Last campaign, he finished as Spurs’ top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions and netted the memorable winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United, ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought.
Johnson will take the number 11 shirt at Selhurst Park and is expected to go straight into the squad for Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United. His addition provides Glasner with crucial attacking depth as Palace aim to snap a six-match winless run across all competitions and push forward from 10th in the table.
